The Area
Clynnog Fawr, named after a holly tree, was one of the holiest places in the North West. St. Beuno was responsible for this since he established the church here in the 7th Century and his burial shrine and well are here. Pilgrims used to rest in this place on their journey to Bardsey until Henry VIII abolished the monasteries. It still remains a sacred place to relax and heal body and soul.
